NEW YORK, N.Y. –Working in Support of Education (w!se) is pleased to announce a generous $15,000 grant award from the Investors Foundation to support the w!se Financial Literacy Certification program in New Jersey. The grant will help develop the financial literacy of students at high schools across the state. New Jersey is one of 17 states in the U.S. that requires students to take a course on personal finance for graduation.

The Financial Literacy Certification program is an award-winning initiative that supports personal finance instruction at high schools in 48 states. Schools teach a course on personal finance using instructional resources provided by w!se. Students become Certified Financially Literate™ and earn w!se’s coveted CFL™ when they take and pass w!se’s Financial Literacy Certification Test after instruction.

Launched in 2003, the program is helping to transform the lives of students! One student from a school in New Jersey recently said: “After I graduate, I will have to start making some important financial decisions such as taking out student loans, buying a car and renting an apartment. Becoming financially literate through the w!se program has helped me make smarter decisions about these issues about even simpler things such as choosing which bank to take out a credit card with.”

“The Financial Literacy Certification program has provided diverse students nationally with an enriching and valuable experience in enhancing their financial literacy knowledge,” said w!se President & CEO Phyllis Frankfort Perillo. “We are deeply grateful to the Investors Foundation for their support in helping us reach even more students.”
