NEW YORK, N.Y. – Working in Support of Education (w!se) is excited to announce that The Allstate Foundation has awarded a generous grant to support w!se’s Financial Literacy Certification Program. The grant will support the Financial Literacy Certification Program in 2017-18 by bringing the program to 45-50 upstate New York schools, serving approximately 1,500 students.

The Financial Literacy Certification program is an award-winning initiative that supports personal finance instruction at high schools in 48 states. Schools teach a course on personal finance using instructional resources provided by w!se. Students become Certified Financially Literate™ and earn w!se’s coveted CFL™ when they take and pass w!se’s Financial Literacy Certification Test after instruction.

Launched in 2003, the program is helping to transform the lives of students across the U.S. Keeshawn, a student at Cardinal Spellman High School, recently noted: “Because of the w!se program I will never forget about the importance of living within your means, budgeting and planning, and considering wants vs. needs. I can now talk with my parents and other adults about money in a knowledgeable and educated way.”

“The Financial Literacy Certification program has provided diverse students nationally with an enriching and valuable experience in enhancing their financial literacy knowledge,” said w!se President & CEO Phyllis F. Perillo. “We are deeply grateful to our cherished partner The Allstate Foundation for their support in helping us reach even more students.”
