NEW YORK, N.Y. – Working in Support of Education (w!se) is excited to announce that The Allstate Foundation has awarded a grant to support w!se’s MoneyW!SE Program for Survivors of Domestic Violence. Funding will support the program in New York City and Westchester County for the 2016-17 academic year.

Through this groundbreaking program, w!se offers a 12-week course on personal finance to domestic violence survivors and, at the end of each course, administers w!se’s Financial Literacy Certification Test. Clients who pass the test become Certified Financially Literate and earn w!se’s CFL™. Classes meet once a week in the evening for two hours. Food and childcare are provided.

“We are proud to grow our partnership with w!se as they are dedicated to providing long-term safety and security for survivors of domestic violence through financial empowerment by offering the MoneyW!SE program in more communities throughout New York,” said Kayla Taylor, New York Allstate Foundation spokesperson.

“We are deeply grateful to our cherished sponsor, The Allstate Foundation, for their generous grant” said Phyllis Frankfort Perillo, w!se President and CEO. “Their continued support is critical in ensuring that domestic violence survivors can get back on their own two feet and thrive financially,” she added.

MoneyW!SE was first launched in 2009. More than 100 domestic violence survivors have become Certified Financially Literate™.
