NEW YORK, NY– Working in Support of Education (W!se) is pleased to announce a new generous grant from Synchrony Bank to support our MoneyW!SE program in Bridgeport, Connecticut and White Plains, New York.

Since 2009, MoneyW!SE has provided survivors of domestic violence with the knowledge and skills to become financially literate and the confidence to break free from their abusive relationships. Through the program, W!se partners with local community-based organizations and personal finance experts to deliver a course on personal finance which includes one on one financial counseling. Classes are taught by volunteers and are offered in English and Spanish, both in person and online.

“We are sincerely grateful for Synchrony’s longtime partnership and generous funding,” said David Anderson, W!se President and CEO. “The grant will have a very significant impact in enabling us to provide a pathway to financial independence to domestic violence survivors and their families.”

The program is truly transforming lives:

“After leaving my abusive husband I became a single mom. I was living paycheck to paycheck and totally lost about my finances. Money is still tight, but through the MoneyW!SE course, I’ve learned how to do things that will help me become financially stable. The more I apply what I learned, the more I feel in control and optimistic about my future.” -MoneyW!SE Client
